
Member news: Luxembourg’s SES Completes Acquisition of Intelsat
On July 17, 2025, SES announced the acquisition of Intelsat, creating a stronger global satellite operator with a fleet of 120 satellites across multiple orbits. The combined company will offer advanced multi-orbit, multi-band connectivity solutions for governments and businesses worldwide, focusing on high-growth segments. With a comprehensive network including GEO, MEO, and access to LEO satellites, SES can deliver versatile and premium services across various spectrum bands. The merger is expected to generate approximately €3.7 billion in revenue and €1.8 billion in EBITDA by 2028, supported by a backlog exceeding €8 billion. SES plans to invest around €600–€650 million annually to enhance its infrastructure and pursue emerging markets like IoT and space-based data relay. The integration aims for significant cost synergies (€2.4 billion NPV) and increased shareholder returns, including potential dividend growth. Headquartered in Luxembourg, SES maintains a strong presence in North America and remains committed to long-term growth, innovation, and creating value for its customers and shareholders.
