Luxembourg launches an initiative to attract skilled professionals and boost its economy’s competitiveness
On 28 January 2026, Lex Delles, Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy, and Tourism, and Marc Spautz, Minister of Labour, presented the national portal www.workinluxembourg.com and the Talent Desk, two key tools to strengthen Luxembourg’s attractiveness in the international competition for talent. Developed in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Trades, ADEM, and Luxinnovation, these initiatives support the government’s strategy to attract, retain, and develop skills essential for the country’s competitiveness and innovation.
Luxembourg’s labour market is highly international, with nearly three-quarters of workers being non-Luxembourgish. Sectors facing skills shortages include IT, finance, healthcare, education, and technical professions. To address this “race for talent,” the government is reinforcing measures to attract and integrate international professionals.
Work in Luxembourg unifies promotional efforts under a single brand, with the slogan “Your future starts here”, highlighting security, multiculturalism, a dynamic economy, international education, and quality of life. The brand will also be present at international events, such as VivaTech.
The portal www.workinluxembourg.com serves as a one-stop gateway for both talent and companies:
- Work here: working conditions, careers, and key economic sectors.
- Live here: daily life, family, education, health, and leisure.
- Get started: immigration, job search, and relocation.
It includes a relocation guide for talent and an Employer Toolkit for companies, and is linked to ADEM’s international recruitment platform, which already lists over 11,000 candidates. A chatbot answers user questions. The site, currently in English, will be translated into additional languages and regularly updated.
The Talent Desk, located near the House of Entrepreneurship, provides personalized support for talent relocation and integration and assists companies with international recruitment. Managed by the Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Ministry of the Economy and the Chamber of Trades, it works with multiple institutional partners. One of its projects is a Spouse Programme, which facilitates professional and social integration of international talent partners, supporting long-term anchoring in Luxembourg.
