Exclusive dinner on the 9th Art

On December 2, 2025, the BCBL had the pleasure of hosting an intimate dinner dedicated to comics, bringing together Belgian and Luxembourgish professionals alongside a small group of guests with an interest in and curiosity for the 9th art.

The evening featured an engaging discussion around the comic Les Rois des Belges (Éditions Le Lombard), in which Jean-Philippe Thivet and Arnaud de la Croix trace the life and personalities of the seven Belgian monarchs, from Leopold I to King Philippe, offering a precise and insightful perspective on the royal institution.

The evening was also marked by the presence of Lydia Alegria, who presented Histoire de la bande dessinée au Luxembourg depuis 1945 (Plg-Apjabd Publishing), highlighting the rise of publications in Luxembourgish after World War II and the influence of the country’s position at the crossroads of Latin and Germanic cultures. Her presentation drew on her research as well as that Claude Kremer, providing valuable insight into a lesser-known aspect of Luxembourgish comics.

This gathering was a wonderful occasion to celebrate the 9th art and cultural dialogue between Belgium and Luxembourg in a convivial atmosphere.

For all comic enthusiasts, don’t miss the 32nd International Comics Festival in Contern, Luxembourg, from 18 to 19 July 2026: over 50 international authors showcasing comics, manga, and graphic novels, along with signings and activities: https://www.bdcontern.lu/
