LIST plays central role in Luxembourg's defence effort

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) has undertaken four research projects that have been chosen to contribute to Luxembourg's defense initiatives. In 2022, the Luxembourg government established an interministerial cooperation involving the Defence Directorate, the Ministry of the Economy, the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the National Research Fund (FNR), and Luxinnovation. This collaborative effort within the country allowed the Luxembourg Defence Ministry to launch its inaugural national call for research and development (R&D) projects in the defense domain in June 2022. The primary focus of this initial call for projects was on the space and materials sectors, and it invited both companies and research centers based in Luxembourg to participate. In response, national entities submitted a total of 60 projects, with 16 proposals targeting materials and 44 centered around space-related research. Eventually, 13 projects were chosen for funding, comprising five in the materials field and eight in the space sector.
